Andreas Polyzogopoulos

Trumpet player and composer Andreas Polyzogopoulos grew up in Samiko, a small village in South-West Greece and began his musical journey by playing the guitar until, at the age of 18, he discovered the trumpet.

He studied jazz trumpet at the Amsterdam Conservatory (Bachelor of Arts) and at the Royal Academy of Brussels (Master of Arts), where he won the Toots Thielemans competition. At the same time, he took lessons with Markus Stockhausen and attended workshops with Paolo Fresu in Sardinia.

In 2008, he recorded his first album titled Perfumed Dreams with the group Poly Quartet and won first place in the Motives For Jazz competition in Belgium.

Recently, he released his fifth personal album, Petrichor, featuring Petros Klampanis on double bass and Wajdi Riahi on piano.

He has performed at various major festivals and clubs such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Odessa Jazz Festival, Shanghai World Music Festival, Berlin Jazz Festival, I Suoni delle Dolomiti, Jazz à la Villette, and Banlieues Bleues.

He has recorded five solo albums and participated in about 100 recordings to date.

His personal compositions and projects are inspired by the scent of rain and pine trees, the places he has lived, Vipassana Meditation, Pink Floyd and Chet Baker.

The European sound of jazz is the space where Polyzogopoulos feels at home, considering rhythm and… silence to be equally important in music!
