Of Irish and Eastern European ancestry, David was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He studied music with James Moody, Charles Lloyd, Ralph Bowen and John Coltrane associate, Garvin Buschell, and attended Dick Grove Music Workshops in L.A. He began his professional career playing in numerous clubs, studios and with jazz big bands.
David’s insatiable quest for new and creative forms of expression brought him to Europe. He soon came in contact with outstanding musicians and artists from Greece where he felt both a sense of richness and profound simplicity. This lead him to settle there.
The unique musical language he has developed by submerging his own expressive idiom into that of the Greek musical experience, has earned him the reputation as being a musician of extraordinary sensitivity and versatility.
David, since, has played on hundreds of albums and numerous movie soundtracks, and has founded/co-founded the bands, Iskra, Living Space, The Missing Lynch, DuoFaros, and Human Touch.
He has written music for film, theatre, radio, television and dance and has played with the likes of Anthony Jackson, Trilok Gurtu, Milcho Leviev, Arturo Sandoval, Arild Anderson, Marcus Stockhausen, The Temptations, Barry White, Vassilis Soukas, Maria Farantouri, and numerous others. He is arranger/musical director for tours with Elly Paspala and ECM artist Eleni Karaindrou.
As a solo artist, David has four albums, Lit’l Song, Music with a View, Wandering Home (recorded live at the Athens Megaron Concert Hall and featuring renowned Irish uilleann piper Davy Spillane) and most recently, Truths be told.
